3 Caballeros by kamladolly 3 Caballeros by kamladolly
Iíve been meaning to draw these characters for a while and I finally finished! One of my favorite cartoons as a kid: The Three Caballeros. Oddly enough, of the three, Donald was the hardest to draw, but came out the best. Jose (the parrot) was actually easier to draw than I first thought. But after I colored him, I realized that I could have done better at drawing him. Panchito was hard to draw at first and he didnít come out as well as I would have liked.

Are you kidding? I think they all came out great?

I lovelovelove this piece. I adored this movie as a kid, but the ending where everything all of a sudden becomes very psychadelic kind of freaked me out.
kamladolly Featured By Owner Sep 7, 2006  Professional Artist
I can understand that. As a kid, I would fast forward through that part until the end with the bull fight.
Wendy-Lady Featured By Owner Sep 7, 2006
That movie gets some credit for contributing to how weird I turned out todayXD I never fastforwarded through any of it. Many years later I found myself thinking "man, the guys at Disney were on some good shit back then."

Wow! Great job. The colors and the background look great. I also love the way you drew Josť's hat in there.
Now I need to make some fanart, too. Like, right now =P

Beautifully rendered!

Brings back the fond memories and respect I have for Renaissance Disney. And, I agree, Panchito IS very challenging to draw, whilst JosŤ is definately more easy going.

Have you tried working with Prismacolour markers yet? They're a god-scend just like their pencil-type cousins! ^__^

This brightened my day. I'm always glad to see some JosŤ Carioca artwork! :)
kamladolly Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2004  Professional Artist
Prismacolor markers used to be my main media for drawings like these and I hardly worked with anything else. It's just that all my markers died around the same time and they are very expensive to replace. Prismacolor pencils on the other hand are only $.99 a pencil so that's why I started working more with color pencils. Someday I'll get new markers.

JosŤ Carioca art is always good to see, but I've hardly seen anyone else draw him.

I'm planning an onslaught (of Jose-themed artwork), shall I keep you posted?

Those markers are a dream. They're so good for graphic style art. They ARE expensive, though! OMGosh, they're almost $4 bucks a marker! Give or take if you order them online. I've tried the pencils and they seem to disagree with me, but I've had an artclass or two since the last time I tried, so I might pick them up again when my markers actually do run out, but overall I think I do better with wet medium (watercolour, inks, gouche, etc...). How longs it been since you last had the chance to use them?

Also (not to spam you), if you find yourself needing that daily dose of Jose or you just need another outlet to ruthlessly showcase any art you might have of the character, I made this:

I just started it so it's completely blank canvas. :)

Yes, do let me know when you get the Jose artworks done. I would love to see them! And thanks for the link. I'll join up with in the next few days when I'm not busy with school work.

As for markers, the last image uploaded in my gallery here that's done in markers was in March of 2003. Wow, I didn't realize it's been that long. I'm definitely going to try and save up for a full prismacolor marker set now.

Oh the memories this brings back... Back before I lost my respect for Disney...
You captured them all really nicely. Great job.
anniefelis Featured By Owner Sep 17, 2004
Panchito was always my favorite in that cartoon. I can barely remember the cartoon now, it's been so long since I've seen it. Great rendition of these three, though...the coloring is done very well.

Awesome~! That's gotta be one of the coolest artworks I've seen in such a while. The best part is, Donald's there! The colours are vibrant too. And the background suits it very well.
